1. Why would I be interested in serving on the Resident Council?

Serving on the Resident Council would give me an opportunity to relive some of the good times I had during my work life.  The task then was to collaborate with people in making their activities safer, healthier and more enjoyable. Those people worked in a myriad of occupations, in some countries outside the US, were of different races, geopolitical attitudes, spiritualities, professions and genders.  Rose Villa is in many regards a similar community.  A wonderful life lesson that I think fits here is that although we are all very different, essentially, we are all the same.  Spending time working on making our lives better in as many ways as we can is a worthwhile task.
 
2. Who am I?

I am a native Oregonian.  Born, went to Public School in Medford, raised my one daughter & two sons there.  I grew up in my maternal
grandmother’s home and the back room of my grandfather’s small
restaurant.  They were Dust Bowl refugees from Oklahoma in 1932.  I’ve always thought it was interesting that I, my three aunts and my children all attended the same High School in Medford.  It is still a fairly geographically and politically small town. I attended Southern Oregon College in Ashland, Oregon State and Portland State; worked after that for a commercial/industrial contractor in Medford.

We, the children and I, moved to the Portland metro area in 1974 where I began work as one of the earliest women hired under Title 8 to enforce the federally funded Occupational Safety and Health Act for the State of Oregon.  Following a few years in several positions there, I left the government to work in many aspects of safety and health for private construction and petroleum industries here and in other countries.  During my career, I also did some Tech writing, participated in S & H activities and audits at Los Alamos, Sandia, Lawrence Livermore, and Berkley Laboratories.

I retired and returned to West Linn, OR in the early 2000’s.
