District Boundaries

The 2022 Bylaws created an imbalance in the number of independent living residents across the districts, with the South District having significantly fewer residents than the North and Middle Districts. This imbalance made recruiting Council candidates for the South District harder and led to uneven representation. In addition, the South District’s total headcount included Madrona Grove residents, who already have a liaison on the Council.

To resolve this, the 2024 Bylaws Committee proposed adjusting district boundaries by moving Schroeder to the South District and Garden Grove to the Middle District. This change balances the number of independent-living residents across all three districts, making them nearly equal. Residents approved the change in districts at the Special Association meeting on July 10, 2024.
