Dick Daniels – Photography

Dick Daniels

Sue and Dick began photography underwater at Bonaire off the coast of Venezuela. What Dick saw was so amazing that he wanted clear pictures for the sake of memories. But, following a dive accident, Dick’s work  moved him above sea level. Dick’s photography began to expand and change with emphasis on composition.

The next alteration was the addition of time and or motion to some of his photos. Dick’s camera was set up for bright mid-day light but without thinking he took a picture at sunset. This created an impressionistic feeling to images.

Next was the attempt to add a more modern or abstract feeling to images. It began by taking photos of the bottoms of boats that were under repair in the Caribbean. When Dick returned home he brought up each image on his computer, which allowed him the freedom to change “whatever” he decided to try. Sometimes it worked and sometime not. But it was entertaining and when it worked the results were very exciting.

During Covid Dick created boat bottom images every week at a local Monterey Bay boatyard. Stated simply, you shoot it and then you play with the result on your computer. You may be pleasantly surprised.
