Marcia Krueger – Gardening

Marcia Krueger in her garden

Marcia has been gardening all of her life. She grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and helped in the family garden and fields. Her father-in-law said, “you’ll never take the farmer out of Marcia,” and he was right.

Over the years Marcia has gardened in four gardening climate zones. She’s been in the Portland area for 40+ years. She doesn’t consider herself a great gardener, just an experienced one — she learns as she goes.

Marcia’s favorite flowers change with the seasons from spring to fall — daffodils, lilacs, hydrangeas, sunflowers. She grows a cottage style garden and says that the highlight of the many garden tours she has taken would have to be the visit to the Monet Garden in Giverny, France. She realized she had most of the flowers found in the Monet Garden in her own yard on King Road in Milwaukie.  Many of the same plants are now in her little yard here at Rose Villa. Marcia says it’s a great joy when residents and pre-schoolers notice the tall flowers and quirky little items she has hidden away in her garden. She moves this blue duck around in the garden, and loves watching for the kids to find it!

Please walk by or knock on her door — and enjoy!
