Penny’s memory of her first garden was as a young child, when she visited her aunt in southern Oregon. The way the colors danced through the space as if talking with one another later influenced her painting, and even today her garden.
When she moved to Rose Villa she had the opportunity to turn her new backyard into a garden and included a collection of masks that were made in twos and threes by friends who gathered in her Southwest Portland kitchen. Penny enjoys her collection of friends represented as masks, hanging in her garden to complement the colors of flowers.
