Ready Force is offering training to Rose Villa residents in March 2024. The training is based on FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) basic training but customized for the residents at Rose Villa. This page is used to post related materials and videos.

Class 3, Wednesday, March 13 – Unit 2: CERT Organization

    • MYN 7-steps
    • Break up students into two neighborhoods: North Main (2nd floor only) & Central C.
      • North Main: Inge, Kate, John C., Marilyn, Susan H, Roxanne
      • Central C: John W, Norma, Judy, Bob, Susan VV, Phyllis
    • Each neighborhood will have three teams:
      • Communications
      • Mobility
      • OK/HELP
    • Anyone with difficulty walking will be assigned a non-walking role in the neighborhood. These students should report to their neighborhood meeting places early.
    • 10 minutes
  • Break: 10 minutes.
    • After the 10-minute break, students report directly to the appropriate neighborhood meeting place.
  • Exercise 3: Disaster Simulation at Rose Villa
    • Outdoors, wear warm clothes and raingear if necessary
    • Scenario: A Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake occurs at 9:00 AM Sunday; what do you do?
      • Goals:
        • Practice RF communication using 2-way FRS radios.
        • Practice Ready Force self-mobilization.
        • Practice the CERT Buddy System.
        • Practice Steps 5, 6, and 7 of Map Your Neighborhood.
    • 30 minutes
  • Class Discussion on Disaster Simulation Exercise
    • Note: Ready Force is learning from this exercise. We need to perform more neighborhood disaster simulation exercises this summer. Let us know if you want to take a role in planning your neighborhood training exercise.

Class 4, Thursday, March 14 – Unit 3: Disaster Medical Operations: Part 1

  • Exercise 4: Simple Triage
    • Scenario: A mass casualty incident (MCI) has occurred, and many Rose Villa residents are injured. 
    • Goals:
      • Practice voice triage for walking-wounded
      • Practice a systematic search of a building for survivors.
      • Practice approaching the injured (assess the safety of the scene, identify yourself, ask for permission)
      • Practice rapid triage assessment (30-2-CAN DO) and tagging of triage survivors.
      • Practice using the Field Triage Summary form.
      • Note: we are not practicing “And Rapid Treatment” (START).
