La Provence is a French bakery and restaurant with eight locations in the Portland area. Arlin and I are most familiar with the one on NE Sandy near our old home in Laurelhurst. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch (some locations have dinner, too), and they also sell freshly baked breads and fabulous desserts. On a recent visit we split a Monte Cristo sandwich and then picked some indulgent desserts (a napoleon and a little chocolate cake) from the dessert case. We have enjoyed every meal we’ve had there, which is many over the years; we still go back when we’re in the neighborhood.
