Margaret Bell — Birding

Margaret Bell (South Central)

Margaret BellWhat got her started: Margaret has been interested in birds and other wildlife since early grade school.

Favorite bird: Members of the Corvid (crow, raven, jay, magpie, clark nutcracker) family are Margaret’s favorite birds.

Solo or group: Margaret goes birding alone more times than not.

Birding at Rose Villa: Margaret stops to look at and enjoy any birds she sees on a daily basis. By taking the time to watch when she can, she learns more about how birds live their lives.

Special treats: Margaret travels locally and to other parts of the state and elsewhere to observe birds commonly found in specific habitats other than around Rose Villa. As Margaret says: “For me, when I see a species I have not seen in a long time, I feel like I have reconnected with an old friend.” Margaret no longer keeps a life list nor is she concerned about how many kinds of birds she sees. She tries to go into the field without expectations of what she might find. She often uses a species list for specific areas to help her identify what she observes.
