Vita Sorgi — Birding

Vita SorgiLazuli Bunting at Vancouver LakeVita has been caring for birds and watching them since she was in her 30s. She always had a bird-friendly habitat around her Oakland, Ca. home — from the wildflowers to salvia plants for food, several birds baths, to nesting boxes. In Oakland she and her partner, Cathy Schwabe, had several generations of nesting mourning doves, Bewick’s wrens, chestnut-backed chickadees, towhees and hummingbirds. At times our driveway was off limits because to the fledging Mourning Doves occupying it.

Vita prefers to watch and experience birds as she sees them, so doesn’t take many pictures. The lazuli bunting, pictured here, was a life bird for Vita (picture is from her birding book).
