Brad & Joyce Jensen — Boating

Brad & Joyce Jensen (Northwest)

Brad & Joyce JensenBrad and Joyce got hooked on sailing early in their marriage in 1973, and moved up from an 8’ sailing dinghy to a 17′ one-design racing sailboat to a 27′ then a 34′ cruising sailboat, which they had for 23 years. They made many trips up the coast to the US and Canadian San Juan Islands.

On the west coast of Vancouver Island Their big adventure was in 2002 when they circumnavigated Vancouver Island. Ten weeks of rationed water, close quarters, and very little contact with the outside world and memories that linger. They have also enjoyed chartering boats with friends a couple times in the Caribbean.

Now that they are older, maybe just less energetic, they have an old power boat with a sailing/rowing-nesting dinghy and a couple of kayaks and enjoy cruising with friends up and down the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

Here are some more pictures from their time on the water:

Their “nesting” dinghy separates, the bow from the stern, the bow is stored in the stern (nesting) and can be loaded on to a boat or a car. When in the water, it can be either rowed or sailed.
