The Portland Red Guide (979.6 2nd ed.), published in 2011. Mike’s book provides a roadmap to local buildings and places associated with Portland’s leftist radicals and offers an account of the people and stories beyond the mainstream narratives. As one reviewer said of the second edition: “The Portland Red Guide is subversive history at its best. … It deftly uses the archives of the Portland Police Department’s ‘Red Squad’ to preserve the memory of movements for social democracy that the police squad had sought to suppress.”
