Rose Villa’s Lifeguard Corps

by Kate Dins

(reported by Dianna Schaffer)

An intrepid group of RV residents and staff participated in six days of Lifeguard Certification training this month. As you may know, we are required by state regulations to have a lifeguard on duty whenever the lazy river is operated. During the pandemic, for obvious reasons, the operation of the lazy river was suspended. However, we have high hopes that we will soon be able to enjoy the lazy river again.

Seven residents (including two future residents!) and two staff members successfully completed the lifeguard class and passed written tests, as well as skills testing in the pool.  The course included first aid, CPR, and water rescue techniques. The newly certified lifeguards will not only be on duty for the operation of the lazy river, but will also provide coverage for events such as the RV Staff Family Swim and special events hosted in the pool.

Our new lifeguard corps is made up of the following members:

Mayo Marsh

Frank Ramos

Judy Francis

Jan Wainscott

Kate Dins

John Chapman (future resident)

James Robinson (future resident)

Dessie Cotes (staff)

Rene Swar (staff)

Congratulations to all the new lifeguards! Here are some photos from the training:
