Thriving at Rose Villa

Thriving at Rose VillaCaroline began collecting recipes from neighbors shortly after moving to Rose Villa in May, 2019. Her goal was to collect some of your favorite recipes — the ones you love to prepare and share with family and friends — and make them available at the Tuesday Market. That initial intention soon grew to include other things that make Rose Villa such a unique and special neighborhood. So, she invited neighbors to contribute not only their favorite recipes, but also their stories, insights, and ideas about how to enjoy life here.

Having a beloved recipe is the perfect place to start when talking about ways to sustain vibrant community life. It is a treasure that offers us a creative way to care for those we love. A recipe can foster new friendships, nurture old ones, and remind us of loved ones who have passed on. Holding the memory of what they created, and the ability to enjoy making it ourselves, is a gift for all of us.

Beyond the recipes in this collection, Caroline has included inspirational quotes, comments shared at the Living in Community Workshop (held in the fall of 2019), and some photos that she has taken. She hopes these things bring good memories of times spent together, as well as reminders of the beauty of our Rose Villa home.

Thriving at Rose Villa is available to be checked out from the Rose Villa Library (call number is 641). If you would like to receive an electronic PDF version of the book, please contact Caroline Lehman, editor. In return, a donation to the Rose Villa Foundation would be greatly appreciated!
