Ask Ms. Foodie: How do I find out about the F&B Menu Items?

reported by Dianna Shaffer

QUESTION 9:  I am struggling with where and how to find all the current information easily and quickly on F&B (Food and Beverage) daily and weekly menus and knowing all the food choices.   Help!

Ms. Foodie:   Great question!  In this digital age and with lockdowns, it can be difficult to sort out information from the many Rose Villa staff and resident driven email sites plus written sources.  We will try to break it down for you.

Weekly Menu:  The Weekly Menu is a great planning tool. It is emailed every Friday to “enrolled” residents.  If you have an email, enroll by dialing “0” to be put on the “RV Email Flyer distribution List.”  Be aware you will receive ALL flyers in your email, but you can scan the “subject” line and only open those with subject lines of interest. Just delete the others.  If you have no email or printer, printed copies are in the flyer holder near the mailboxes.

Daily Menus:  Go to the RV Touchtown site, and look for “Touchtown TV” (not “Touchtown Info,” which only covers the how to of using the site).  At Touchtown TV, see the scrolling screens of many separate flyers and look for one on Breakfast Menu items and another on Daily Specials, Soups and Veggies, the Power Bowl menu and Dinner Special.  If you do not have a computer, there are TV screen monitors tuned to Touchtown TV in South Main by the Receptionist’s desk, and in North Main by the PAC and the gym entrance.

F&B site:  Also on RV Touchtown site, you can find “Food & Beverage” and then “Harvest Grill.”  Explore the many  topics, but start with these three: “Weekly Menu“ the “To Go Menu” and a new feature called  ”Harvest Grill Mix ‘n Match Guide!”  The latter is a chart with categories of choices by Proteins, Vegetables and Greens, Cheese, Bread, Sauce, Other sides.  A truly creative way to individualize your meal order!

RVillagers.org:  Each day Steve Morris provides an email with the subject line  “Activities Calendar/Birthdays,” containing a link “Click here to view the Activities Calendar”.  Here you will find times of daily events by hour and a line “all-day” which includes the “Trumpet, Wellness Calendar, and WEEKLY MENU”.   Click on the blue highlighted link (which is a little small) then choose “Weekly Menu.”   The Harvest Grill “To Go Menu” pops up, as well as menus from prior weeks to refresh your memory on past dishes.

Go Strolling:  Take a walk to Harvest Grill during open hours and check out the blackboard wall sign.  View the standing whiteboard listing additional items, which may be excess items from Madrona Grove or Harvest Grill that are not listed elsewhere.  Check out the glass Grab and Go case for desserts and the lower case for drinks and items ranging from prepared sandwiches to salads to warm-up meals.   There are many bargain items here, but do check the date for freshness.

Hours:  Currently our two restaurants do not offer any on-site dining service.  Harvest Grill Restaurant offers to-go only, prepared foods Monday through Saturday 11:00 – 7:00 and is closed Sunday.  The Heirloom Restaurant is the location to pick up pre-ordered breakfast items Monday through Saturday between 8:00 am and 10:00 am; and on Sundays is the location to pick up pre ordered brunch menu items between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.  For ordering any meals, call the restaurant at ext. 4000 (or 503 652 4000) between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.  Or call for quick questions.  For numerous or in-depth questions, it is better to send an email to Norine Mulry at nmulry@rosevilla.org, or call 503 652-3193.

Talk to Residents:  Lastly, ask your friends and neighbors about ordering and what dishes they have tried and like (or dislike).
