Day Trip: George Rogers Park (Lake Oswego)

This charming park is located south of Rose Villa on the opposite (west) bank of the Willamette River.

There are great river views and a lovely large sculpture.

The largest attraction (literally) is an old iron smelter. It’s hard to get an idea of the gigantic scale so we include a photo with some people for comparison. (Thank you Arlin Brown and Cathy Schar.)

Going south from the park along the river, you cross some charming pedestrian bridges.

If you continue south on Old River Road, you will see some grand houses overlooking the river. You can walk as far as Mary’s Woods (or farther), but the campus is currently closed to visitors due to COVID.
