Marbling Class

On April 30, 2022, Dianna Schaffer taught a class on creating marbled paper designs at the Pavilion. Eight residents had a marvelous (marbleous?) time creating works of art using the techniques Dianna taught. An interesting article on this art form can be found here: https://marbleart.us/SomeHistory.htm#:~:text=The%20art%20of%20marbling%20(or,to%20prevent%20erasure%20and%20forgery.

Judy Francis says, “Having fun with art: that’s what taking a class with Diana is like! She brings the materials, explains the process and then the fun begins.  I’ve never tie-dyed before or pour- painted or marbled paper.  But I have now!  The things I enjoyed most about marbling were experimenting with the different colors and tools (like combs and brushes!) and discovering that there is no wrong way to do it.  Plus I got to have fun and laugh and make new friends while I did it!”

Here are some photos from the class. The upper left photo shows Dianna demonstrating the technique; the next two show what the creations look like in progress; and the final four show four proud creators (Kate Scott, Judy Francis, Mary Claire Phelan, Judy Wathen) with their art pieces.
